This bush had me really confused last year. I thought it grew two different kinds of flowers (ok, so maybe I was being a bit dim), because I'd see one branch with small grayish purple flowers, and one with blue flowers. Then I saw a branch like this and noticed that the blue flower grows inside the other purple "flower", and then falls out, leaving the purple part.
